A Pair of Socks Isn’t Going to Change the World. But it’s a start :-)

SicSock is a company with a conscience, committed to making things a little better for those in need. Giving back is all about doing what you can with what you have. There are as many ways to contribute as there are problems to solve, and at SicSock, we do our bit by donating to homeless and direct provision charities across Ireland, the UK and central Europe.

One Pair Bought = One Pair Donated

Clean, fresh socks are one of the most sought-after goods at homeless shelters and direct provision centres. That’s why for every pair of socks sold at SicSock, we donate a pair to someone who needs it the most.

Homelessness

We are living in the midst of a homelessness crisis. Every night, more than 700,000 people sleep rough in Europe. People become homeless for many different reasons, notably unemployment and broken housing systems. Not having a place to call their own makes it unimaginably difficult for them to get back on their feet.

Direct Provision

Direct provision is Ireland’s reception system for asylum seekers whereby they are housed in communal centres or hotel-like accommodation. The standards of living conditions vary widely, with many residents experiencing lengthy stays. This system makes it difficult for asylum seekers in Ireland to integrate socially and may contribute to declining mental and physical health, self-esteem and professional development. Today, there are more than 7,000 people living in direct provision across Ireland.
